I have a new horse, we have been practicing the pattern for a year. She is well patterned and we have loped the pattern for a bit but I can not get her ti pick up speed now that she is patterned. She will not go faster than a lope. What should I do?

One more question.. the competitiveness we get racing my friends is a whole separate gear. She pushes hard to pass another horse even in pasture, then she slows or gives up her speed..how do you teach them to run like that all the time…
